FOOD DRIVE and SHARE THE WARMTH
When most people think about hunger, they think about TV spots showing a starving child in a third-world country. The truth is, hunger is a problem everywhere in the United States, but it's not always easy to see. Here in Michigan, we are fortunate to have organizations that help people who are struggling to feed their families. Access of West Michigan and the Greater Lansing Food Bank are non-profit organizations that provide food to individuals and families in need. Food is distributed through an extensive network of food pantries and community kitchens throughout the greater Grand Rapids and Lansing areas.
FOOD: During the month of January, 2014, please help us gather food items which will be distributed to our area organizations. You can help by dropping off cans of food or other items at any Option 1 Credit Union branch office. For a list of branch locations to find one near you, click here.
COATS, HATS, GLOVES and MORE: In our Grand Rapids region, Option 1 is partnering with JQ99 to help gather gently used coats, hats, gloves, and other winter gear for people in need. Through mid-February, 2014, drop off your items to any Grand Rapids area Option 1 branch office. For more information, click here to visit the JQ99 website.
